Y6 The Portrait-unit studying artists
Our Y6 students are working on the Portrait unit. This unit is covered every year because:
- It allows them to explore their identity and express themselves through art.
- It encourages technical skills such as observation, drawing, and painting.
- It helps children to understand and express emotions, both their own and those of others.
- It teaches them about different cultures and artistic styles, broadening their perspective.
- It strengthens their self-esteem by recognising the value of their own work and creativity.
In this activity, the children researched and observed an artist of their choice, working with their style and technique to then apply it in their own pieces. They also explored the technique of printmaking, creating prints which they later enhanced with various artistic experiences, allowing them to deepen their understanding of portraiture and artistic expression.
Los alumnos de Y6 están trabajando sobre la unidad de Retrato. Esta unidad se aborda cada año porque:
- Les permite explorar su identidad y expresarse a través del arte.
- Fomenta habilidades técnicas como la observación, el dibujo y la pintura.
- Ayuda a los niños a comprender y expresar sus emociones, tanto las propias como las de los demás.
- Les enseña sobre diferentes culturas y estilos artísticos, ampliando su perspectiva.
- Fortalece la autoestima al ver el valor de su propio trabajo y la creatividad.
En esta actividad los niños han investigado y observado a un artista elegido por ellos y trabajaron con su estilo y técnica para luego aplicarlo en sus propias obras. Además, exploraron la técnica del grabado, creando impresiones que después intervinieron con diversas experiencias artísticas, lo que les permitió profundizar en su comprensión del retrato y la expresión artística.
