Y5 Assembly
Last week, Y5 students and their families got together to celebrate learning and inquiry. On this occasion, the students prepared an assembly to show the transdisciplinary way in which they worked on the different Units. They prepared a journey through the central ideas that guided their learning and explained how they came to understand that in every system, all its parts are interdependent and that the classroom is a system in itself.
Y5 students also invited parents to see their work during the UOI Changing Times and the concept of revolution. They summarized their research in a sentence: “Understanding the past, allows us to understand the present, and improve the future”. Later on, they introduced their third Unit, Population: they investigated the interrelationships between people and systems, and the impact of revolutionary inventions such as the steam engine. Finally, they presented Diversity, a cross-section Unit that is approached throughout the year. Y5 students closed the Assembly with a quote of their own: “We were all born to stand out”. Congratulations to all of them!
La semana pasada, los alumnos de Y5 y sus familias se reunieron para celebrar el aprendizaje y los procesos de indagación. En esta ocasión, los alumnos prepararon un Assembly para mostrar la forma transdisciplinaria en la que trabajaron las diferentes Unidades. Prepararon un recorrido por las ideas centrales que guiaron su aprendizaje y explicaron cómo llegaron a comprender que en todo sistema todas sus partes son interdependientes y que el aula es un sistema en sí mismo.
Los estudiantes de Y5 también invitaron a los padres a ver su trabajo durante la UOI Tiempos de Cambio y el concepto de revolución. Resumieron su investigación en una frase: “Conocer el pasado nos permite comprender el presente y mejorar el futuro”. Más tarde, introdujeron su tercera unidad, Población: investigaron las interrelaciones entre personas y sistemas, y el impacto de inventos revolucionarios como la máquina de vapor. Finalmente, presentaron Diversidad, una Unidad transversal que se aborda durante todo el año. Los alumnos de Y5 cerraron el Assembly con una cita propia: “Todos nacimos para destacarnos”. ¡Felicitaciones a todos ellos!
