Trip to the NHSMUN 2023 Model United Nations

From March 9 to March 21, the 6th trip to the NHSMUN 2023 Model United Nations took place in New York City and Washington . A group of 32 students from Northlands Olivos and Nordelta, accompanied by four teachers from the Humanities area, participated in the trip that included taking part in the NHSMUN model representing the delegations of Japan and Ecuador; plus a variety of cultural and academic activities.

Where we handed the Argentine Ambassador a gift; an amazing object of art, generously crafted by artist and ON Carolina Holste, mother of one of our participants. Museums and historical places were also visited, such as the Holocaust Museum, or the Museum of Afro-American History and Culture as well as the most important memorials.

Once in New York and within the framework of the activities related to the model, the Argentine Mission to the UN and the Japanese Mission were visited, where our students were welcomed by diplomats; and the United HQ where the Closing Ceremony took place. Once again, Northlands was recognised with a Commendation for the work carried out in research and preparation for this activity.

Also, in New York, and alternating with the days of intense work on the model, other activities were carried out such as visits to museums, emblematic places in the city and even a musical show on Broadway.

This comprehensive educational experience outside the classroom was a success from an academic, cultural and social perspective.

Entre el 9 y el 21 de marzo se realizó el 6to viaje al Modelo de Naciones Unidas NHSMUN 2023 en las ciudades de Nueva York y Washington . Un grupo de 32 estudiantes de Northlands Olivos y Nordelta, acompañados por cuatro docentes del área Humanidades, participó del viaje que incluyó la participación en el modelo representando las delegaciones de Japón y Ecuador; y una variedad de actividades culturales y académicas.

Una increible obra donada generosamente por Carolina Holste, artista, mamá y Old Northlander. También se visitaron museos y lugares históricos, como el Museo del Holocausto, o el Museo de Historia y Cultura Afro Americana y los memorials mas importantes. 

Ya en Nueva York y  en el marco de las actividades relacionadas al modelo, se visitaron la Misión Argentina ante la ONU y la Misión de Japón donde fueron recibidos por diplomáticos; y el edificio de Naciones Unidas donde tuvo lugar la Ceremonia de Clausura del modelo. Una vez más, Northlands fue reconocido con una Mención por el trabajo realizadoen investigación y preparación para esta actividad. 

Asimismo, en Nueva York, y alternando con los días de intenso trabajo en el modelo, se realizaron otras actividades como visitas a museos, lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad y un show musical en Broadway.

Esta experiencia integral educativa fuera del aula  fue un éxito desde lo académico, lo cultural y lo social.
