OP- SERVICE DAY

On Friday, April 14th, our Primary students spent a day doing service actions within the school. Y1 cleaned up their desks and classroom, Y2 reorganized art material. Y3 returned lost property and made notebooks out of photocopies. Y4 organised sport material donations. Y5 was in charge of fixing books and rewriting their labels. Y6 was in charge of planning games for the playground and setting up playground agreements.

It was wonderful to see our students getting involved in service activities and taking ownership of our school environment. We wanted them to experience that service should be a part of our daily lives. These activities not only helped keep the school clean and organised, but also taught our students responsibility and the importance of working together as a team.

These tasks also allowed our students to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in their work, and helped them develop confidence in their abilities.

El viernes 14 de abril, nuestros alumnos de primaria pasaron un día realizando acciones de servicio dentro del colegio. Los alumnos de Y1 limpiaron sus espacios de trabajo y el aula, los de Y2 reorganizaron los materiales de arte, los de Y3 devolvieron objetos perdidos y crearon anotadores con fotocopias. Los alumnos de Y4 organizaron las donaciones de material deportivo. Los de Y5 se encargaron de arreglar libros y reescribir sus etiquetas. Y los alumnos de Y6 planearon juegos para el patio y establecieron acuerdos para el uso del mismo.

Fue maravilloso ver a todos involucrados en actividades de servicio y apropiándose de nuestro entorno escolar. Queríamos que experimentaran que el servicio debe ser parte de nuestras vidas diarias. Estas actividades no sólo ayudaron a mantener la escuela limpia y organizada, sino que también enseñaron a nuestros alumnos responsabilidad y la importancia de trabajar juntos como equipo. Estas tareas también permitieron que nuestros estudiantes sintieran un sentido de logro y orgullo en su trabajo, y les ayudaron a desarrollar confianza en sus habilidades.

On Friday 14 April we celebrated our first Service Day. Students were invited to bring clothes in good condition for the fair that we will soon have at school, in order to raise funds for our projects in Chaco and Rosario del Tala.

That same day, during the afternoon, our students participated in different activities where agency was put into action. Y6 children and their “Little Brothers and Little Sisters” prepared different games for Y1 students to use during breaktime.

The students from Year 2 to Year 5, elaborated educational resources for the different schools we collaborate with. Within the framework of the UOI 1 “Living in a community”, Y2  children prepared material for “La Concepción”, a school located in the Delta. Y3, Y4 and Y5 students prepared resources for the schools in Rosario del Tala and Chaco. This material will be taken to them by our Secondary students in July.

It was a day where Friendship and Service became visible to everyone.

El viernes 14/4 celebramos nuestro primer Service Day. Los alumnos fueron invitados a traer ropa en buen estado para la feria que realizaremos próximamente, con el fin de juntar fondos para nuestros proyectos de Chaco y Rosario del Tala.

Ese mismo día, durante las horas de la tarde, nuestros alumnos participaron de distintas actividades donde se puso en juego el desarrollo de la agencia. Y 6 compartió un espacio con sus “Little Brothers/ Little Sisters” de Y1 y junto a ellos prepararon distintos juegos para que los utilicen en sus momentos de recreo.

Los alumnos de Y2 a Y5 prepararon material didáctico para enviar a las distintas escuelas con las que colaboramos. Dentro del marco de la UOI 1 “Vivir en comunidad” Y2 preparó material para La Escuela La Concepción ubicada en el Delta. Y3, Y4 e Y5 prepararon recursos para las escuelas de Rosario del Tala y Chaco, que llevarán los alumnos de Secundaria en su viaje de julio.

Fue un día en el que, como comunidad, hicimos visible nuestro lema “Friendship and Service”.
