Pledge to the Flag Y4 Olivos & Nordelta
Last Wednesday, Year 4 students pledged allegiance to the Argentine flag in a beautiful ceremony that included a piece of readers´ theatre based on the book El árbol de los ruidos y las nueces de Silvia Schujer. This story recalls Manuel Belgrano´s leadership towards our country´s independence and was proudly performed by all of Year 4. Students also sang the national anthem in sign language accompanied by a live orchestra and, ultimately, had the opportunity to meet with their families to celebrate this important moment.
El pasado miércoles, los alumnos de cuarto año realizaron su promesa de lealtad a la bandera argentina en una hermosa ceremonia que incluyó una obra de teatro leída basada en el libro “El árbol de los ruidos y las nueces” de Silvia Schujer. Esta historia rememora el liderazgo de Manuel Belgrano para la independencia de nuestro país y fue representada con orgullo por todos los estudiantes de cuarto año. Los alumnos también cantaron el himno nacional en lengua de señas acompañados por una orquesta en vivo y, finalmente, tuvieron la oportunidad de reunirse con sus familias para celebrar este importante momento.
How does one pledge allegiance to the Flag? What does it mean to make a Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag? These questions, asked of our Y4 students before the Ceremony, received various responses. “By pledging allegiance to the Flag, you promise to care for others, help those in need, and not make fun of others.” “To be respectful, to know how to listen, to be good friends.” “To promise to share, listen to others’ ideas, and try to agree when they don’t think the same.” Aren’t these lovely and important answers? As Catalina Paso Viola, Primary Head said, maybe that’s what it’s about. Understanding that building a more united country, where the flag flies proudly, relates to Belgrano’s great ideals. If the magic is in the details, it also relates to the small day-to-day things, our lives, and our living together.
Once again, we had the privilege of having the presence of the Military Band of the Patricios Regiment, “Tambor de Tacuarí,” along with Sub-Lieutenant Santiago Tito (father of Belisario, a Y2 student) and Major Daniel Moreno of the Patricios. It was a pleasure and an honour to welcome them again and see them accompany our students on this very special day. Thank you!

¿Cómo se promete a la Bandera? ¿Qué significa hacer una Promesa de Lealtad a la Bandera? Estas preguntas, realizadas a nuestros alumnos de Y4 antes del Acto, tuvieron diversas respuestas. “Al prometer lealtad a la Bandera, prometo cuidar a los demás, ayudar al que lo necesita, no burlarme de los otros.” “Ser respetuosos, saber escuchar, ser buenos amigos.” “Prometer compartir, escuchar las ideas de los demás e intentar estar de acuerdo cuando no piensan lo mismo.” Qué lindas e importantes respuestas, ¿cierto? Como dijo Catalina Paso Viola, Directora de Primaria, tal vez de eso se trata. De entender que construir un país más unido, en el que la bandera flamee orgullosa, tenga que ver con los grandes ideales de Belgrano, sí, y que si la magia está en los detalles, tiene que ver también con lo chiquito del día a día, con nuestras vidas y nuestra convivencia, nuestro vivir con otros, nuestro vivir juntos.
Una vez más, tuvimos el privilegio de contar con la presencia de la Banda Militar del Regimiento de Patricios, “Tambor de Tacuarí,” junto al Subteniente Santiago Tito (padre de Belisario, alumno de Y2) y el Mayor Daniel Moreno de los Patricios. Fue un placer y un orgullo tenerlos recibirlos nuevamente y verlos acompañar a nuestros alumnos en este día tan especial. ¡Gracias!
