Paula Riesenkamp, University Counsellor, represented Northlands in Monash Counsellor's Week in Australia.

A few weeks ago Paula Riesenkamp, our University Counsellor, was invited by Monash University to the Monash Counsellor’s Week representing Northlands. It was held in Melbourne, Australia. It was a memorable experience since she met many school based counsellors from around the world. She visited the different campuses and attended the Open Day full of prospective students and their parents. Throughout the week the professors gave very interesting lectures and there were roundtables with students from various courses. She was highly impressed by the Faculty of Pharmacy which ranks #2 in the world! The Green Chemical Building is amazing, the academics together with the industrial researchers work to attain the highest level of pollution prevention.

Paula was invited by seven other Australian universities. She visited RMIT in Melbourne. It is a global university of technology, design and enterprise. It is a very colourful university and design and aesthetic are in every corner. She was invited by one of the top universities in Sydney and is consistently ranked in the top 20 universities in the world, The University of Sydney. This prestigious university has beautiful historic buildings and is very well known for the sciences. She attended a teachers’ panel at Macquarie University. It is very good at health sciences and medicine. Then she went to Bond University, a small private university located on the Gold Coast. It is a very personalized university and the students play rugby! She was fascinated by The University of Queensland, the high level of the students in various courses and the wonderful engineering school. Finally in Perth, she was impacted by The Western Australia University, located in a beautiful surrounding. It is outstanding in agriculture and forestry, and earth and marine sciences. Last but not least, Curtin University had unique professors who explained in a very detailed manner topics related to geoscience. It is the place to study mining and physical sciences. 

This very enriching experience allows our University Counsellor to support our students if they want to study in Australia and find their best fit.

Unas semanas atrás, Paula Riesenkamp, University Counsellor, fue invitada por Monash University a Monash Counsellor`s Week representando Northlands. El evento se llevó a cabo en Melbourne, Australia. Fue una experiencia inolvidable porque conoció muchos counsellors de alrededor del mundo. Visitó diferentes campus y participó del Open Day que estuvo repleto de futuros estudiantes con sus padres. A lo largo de la semana asistió a clases y a mesas redondas con alumnos de varias carreras. Ella quedó sumamente impresionada por la Facultad de Farmacia que está segunda en el ranking mundial! El “Green Chemical Building” es increíble, los académicos junto con los investigadores de la industria trabajan para obtener el mayor nivel de prevención de polución.

Paula fue invitada por otras siete universidades australianas. Visitó RMIT en Melbourne que es una universidad tecnológica, de diseño y de la empresa. Es muy colorida; el diseño y la estética se plasman en todas partes. Fue invitada por una de las más destacadas universidades de Sydney que está ranqueada entre las 20 mejores universidades del mundo, The University of Sydney. Esta prestigiosa universidad tiene edificios históricos muy bellos y es muy reconocida por las ciencias. Paula también asistió a paneles de profesores en Macquarie University. Se destaca por las ciencias de la salud y medicina. Tiene su propio hospital. Luego fue a Bond University, una pequeña universidad privada situada en Gold Coast. Es muy personalizada y los alumnos hacen mucho deporte, juegan al rugby! Ella quedó fascinada por The University of Queensland, por la facultad de ingeniería que es sobresaliente y por el alto nivel de los alumnos en varias de las carreras. Para terminar en Perth, fue gratamente sorprendida por The Western Australia University, ubicada en una entorno muy lindo. Es sobresaliente en agricultura y explotación forestal, y ciencias de la tierra y el mundo marino. Por último, Curtin University tiene profesores muy capacitados en temas relacionados con la ciencias de la tierra. Es una universidad para estudiar minería y ciencias físicas.

Esta experiencia tan enriquecedora permite a nuestro University Counsellor acompañar a nuestros estudiantes que desean estudiar en Australia, a elegir la universidad más adecuada a sus intereses.
