The night of August 10 was quite a unique one at Northlands. We were honoured with a sublime piano concert by a most talented argentine artist, Horacio Lavandera, who indulged our audience with an exquisite repertoire with themes by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Purcell among others. Also, two of our Y10 students, accompanied him with their beautiful voices on one of the themes played. A truly marvellous evening!! We thank all of those who joined us in continuing to promote the arts at NORTHLANDS.
La noche del 10 de agosto fue bastante única en Northlands. Fuimos honrados con un sublime concierto de piano a cargo del más talentoso artista argentino, Horacio Lavandera, quien deleitó a nuestra audiencia con un exquisito repertorio con temas de Mozart, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Purcell entre otros. Además, dos de nuestras alumnas de Año 10, lo acompañaron con sus hermosas voces en uno de los temas tocados. Una velada realmente maravillosa!! Agradecemos a todos los que se unieron a nosotros para seguir promoviendo las artes en NORTHLANDS.
Olivos EP 2: Master Class with Horacio Lavandera
To close this week, EP2 students were granted the special opportunity to engage in a Master Class led by Horacio Lavandera, a renowned pianist from Argentina. Following his performance at the Brightman Hall for the Northlands Community, Horacio returned to facilitate this master class for Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 students. Throughout the session, he performed two pieces and fielded questions from three elementary students, delving into his personal journey, musical evolution, and experiences. He underscored the significance of delving into our emotions, establishing a connection with music, and introspecting on our learning processes, emphasizing that “achieving great speed in playing requires mastering a slow pace of learning.”
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Horacio for providing this invaluable platform that ignited inspiration among all our students, encouraging them to foster self-connection and deepen their relationship with music.
Para cerrar esta semana, los alumnos de EP2 tuvieron el privilegio de participar de una Clase Magistral con Horacio Lavandera, aclamado pianista argentino. Luego de tocar en el Brightman Hall para la Comunidad de Northlands, Horacio volvió para participar de esta clase magistral con los alumnos de Y4, Y5 y Y6. Durante el encuentro, tocó dos piezas y respondió preguntas de tres alumnos de primaria donde habló sobre su historia personal, su recorrido y aprendizaje en la música. Nos recordó sobre la importancia de indagar en nuestras emociones, conectar con la música y reflexionar sobre nuestros procesos de aprendizaje, afirmando que“para tocar muy rápido, hay que aprender muy lento”.
Agradecemos a Horacio por este espacio tan valioso que inspiró a todos nuestros alumnos a conectarse consigo mismo y con la música.
