On Friday, September 8th, Y12 Olivos IB Theatre Arts students showcased their collaborative original theatre piece to an audience comprising students and LSU members, presenting it as a full production realisation. Following this captivating performance, the ensemble engaged in an enriching talkback session with the audience to gauge their piece’s impact and assess how well it fulfilled the ensemble’s intentions and vision for the production.
The inspiration for this collaborative task drew from Belarus Free Theatre, a company with a primary mission to employ theatre as a powerful tool for activism and education. Belarus Free Theatre’s primary purpose is to utilize the medium of theatre and storytelling to raise awareness, promote social and political engagement, and drive positive societal change. Their dedication to these goals serves as a guiding light for our students.

El viernes 8 de septiembre, las estudiantes de Teatro IB de Y12 Olivos presentaron su obra teatral colaborativa original ante un público compuesto por estudiantes y miembros de LSU, presentándola como su propuesta final de producción. Tras esta interesante presentación, el grupo participó en una sesión de retroalimentación con el público para evaluar el impacto que tuvo su pieza y conocer cuales fueron las intenciones de la producción.
Esta tarea colaborativa se inspiró en Belarus Free Theatre, una compañía cuya misión principal es emplear el teatro como una poderosa herramienta para el activismo y la educación. El propósito principal del Belarus Free Theatre es utilizar el teatro y la narración para crear conciencia, promover el compromiso social y político, y fomentar un cambio social positivo. Su dedicación a estos objetivos sirve como guía para nuestros estudiantes.
