K5 & Y1: Un poema color naranja
Olivos Kinder & Primary – K5 & Y1
An orange seed
fell to the earth.
It rolled, it rolled,
and fell asleep…
This year, Y1 students went out to explore the neighborhood in search of those seeds that grew over the years and became big trees. So big that the kids had to look waaaay waaay up. As they found the trees, they marked their locations on a map so that Kinder students could go and collect oranges. To show them the map, Olivos Primary and Kinder shared different classes where K5 students visited Primary to get to know the space, their future teachers, and where Y1 students taught the map to Kinder students. An excellent way to strengthen bonds and create bridges!
To conclude this experience, K5 and Y1 students had the opportunity to peel the oranges, and cut the peels and pulp so that Kinder could make jams. We thank everyone who participated and made this wonderful learning experience possible.
… Today it’s a tall and strong orange tree.
It will give me delicious fruits.
More orange seeds
will return to the earth.
Una semilla de naranja
en la tierra se cayó.
Fue rodando, fue rodando
y dormida se quedó…
Este año, los alumnos de Y1 salieron a explorar el barrio de Olivos en búsqueda de aquellas semillas que crecieron con los años y se convirtieron en grandes árboles. Tan grande que los chicos tuvieron que mirar muuuuy para arriba. Al ir encontrando los árboles, los alumnos fueron marcando en un mapa su ubicación para que los alumnos de Kinder puedan ir a recolectar naranjas. Para poder mostrarles el mapa, Olivos Primaria y Kinder tuvieron distintos encuentros donde los alumnos de K5 visitaron la Primaria para conocer el espacio, a sus futuras maestras y que los alumnos de Y1 les enseñaran el mapa a los alumnos de Kinder. ¡Una excelente manera de fortalecer los vínculos!
Para finalizar esta experiencia, los alumnos de K5 y Y1 tuvieron la oportunidad de pelar las naranjas y cortar las cáscaras y las pulpas para que Kinder pudiera cocinar las mermeladas. Agradecemos a todos los que participaron de esta maravillosa experiencia de aprendizaje.
… Hoy es un naranjo alto y fuerte.
Ricos frutos me dará.
