Y6 Guest Speaker on Migration

On Thursday, our school had the privilege of hosting Judith Freidenberg (ON 63), grandmother of one of our Y6 students. Her visit was a remarkable opportunity for our Y6 students to gain profound insights into the intricate topic of migration.

During her presentation, Judith delved deep into the complexities of human migration, shedding light on two contrasting yet interconnected concepts: pluralism and assimilation. With her wealth of knowledge, she masterfully navigated these concepts, helping us understand how they shape the lives of migrants and their host communities. 

Students were captivated by her words and left with a newfound appreciation for the complexities of global migration.

El jueves, tuvimos el privilegio de recibir a Judith Freidenberg (ON’63), abuela de una de nuestras alumnas de Y6. Su visita fue una gran oportunidad para nuestros alumnos de continuar profundizando sobre el concepto de migración.

Durante su presentación, Judith abordó las complejidades de las migraciones humanas, en especial haciendo foco sobre dos conceptos opuestos pero relacionados: el pluralismo y la asimilación. Su vasto conocimiento del tema y experiencia personal nos permitieron comprender cómo estos dos conceptos conviven y moldean las vidas de los migrantes y las comunidades que los reciben. Los alumnos quedaron cautivados por sus palabras y hoy pueden apreciar y valorar la diversidad cultural de una manera más global.
