UOI Celebrations and commemorations

Within the framework of the UOI Celebrations and Commemorations, Y6 students inquire about various cultural traditions and their significance.

We had the pleasure of learning about the traditions of two families as part of our yearly unit of inquiry. The families were gracious to share their unique customs and practices with us, which gave us a deeper understanding of different cultures and ways of life.

This week, the Hourbeigt family shared their knowledge about Holy Week.

Also Maclean family showed the Japanese art of Ikebana which consists of beautifully arranging cut stems, leaves, and flowers in vases and other containers.

Overall, this unit of inquiry allows us to gain a greater appreciation and respect for diverse cultures and traditions, and we are grateful to the families who shared their knowledge and experiences with us.

En el marco de la UOI “Celebraciones y Conmemoraciones”, los estudiantes de Y6 aprenden sobre diversas tradiciones culturales y su significado. Esta semana tuvimos el placer de aprender sobre las tradiciones de dos familias como parte de nuestra unidad anual de investigación. Las familias amablemente compartieron con nosotros sus costumbres y prácticas únicas, lo que nos dio una comprensión más profunda de las diferentes culturas y formas de vida.

Esta semana, la familia Hourbeigt compartió su conocimiento sobre la Semana Santa. Además, la familia Maclean demostró el arte japonés de Ikebana, el cual consiste en arreglar hermosamente tallos cortados, hojas y flores en jarrones y otros recipientes.

Esta unidad de investigación nos permite conocer, apreciar y respetar las diversas culturas y tradiciones, y estamos agradecidos con las familias que compartieron sus conocimientos y experiencias con nosotros.
