22 April - Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970. Today it includes events in more than 190 countries. 

This year, the theme for Earth Day is “Invest in our Planet”.

In this context, The Evergreens, Captains & Prefects, and IGCSE Environmental Management and IB Environmental Systems and Societies students received the visit of PARLEY, NGO that addresses major threats towards our oceans, the most important ecosystem of our planet

The Evergreens have been reflecting during their weekly meetings on the role that each one of us has to ensure a sustainable future. 

We believe that the small big change is deciding to spend some of our time to make a difference.

What can we do?

1. We can decide to reduce our carbon footprint: reducing energy consumption or using more efficient and sustainable transport.
2. We can promote the conservation of nature, supporting organisations that work conserving biodiversity and the protection of species.
3. We can Recycle and reuse. But also, think responsibly before consuming.
4. We can Plant trees and promote reforestation. Trees help absorb carbon dioxide and provide habitats for animals and plants.
5. We can Communicate the importance of protecting the environment and the need to take concrete actions.

Any of these initiatives can make a big difference in the future of our planet. It only depends on our wish and decision to:

El 22 de abril se celebra a nivel mundial el Día de la Tierra  para demostrar apoyo a la protección del medio ambiente. Se celebró por primera vez en 1970, y hoy en día incluye eventos en más de 190 países.

Este año, el tema del Día de la Tierra es “Invertir en nuestro planeta”.

En este contexto The Evergreens, los Captains y Prefects, los estudiantes de IGCSE Environmental Management  y de IB Environmental Systems and Societies recibieron la visita de PARLEY, ONG que aborda las principales amenazas para nuestro océanos.

Los Evergreens han estado reflexionando durante sus reuniones semanales sobre el papel que cada uno de nosotros tiene  en asegurar un futuro sostenible.

Creemos que el pequeño gran cambio es la decisión de disponer de nuestro tiempo para hacer la diferencia.

¿Qué podemos hacer?

1.     Podemos decidir reducir nuestra huella de carbono: disminuyendo el consumo de energía o utilizando transportes más eficientes y sostenibles.
2.     Podemos promover la conservación de la naturaleza, apoyando organizaciones que trabajen en el cuidado de la biodiversidad y la protección de especies.
3.     Podemos Reciclar y reutilizar. Pero además, pensar con responsabilidad antes de consumir.
4.     Podemos Plantar árboles y fomentar la reforestación. Los árboles ayudan a absorber el dióxido de carbono y a proporcionar hábitats para animales y plantas.
5.     Podemos Comunicar la importancia de proteger el medio ambiente y la necesidad de tomar acciones concretas

Todas estas iniciativas, pueden marcar una gran diferencia en el futuro de nuestro planeta. Solo depende del deseo y la decisión de:

“Invertir nuestro tiempo”
