2017 PYP Exhibition

Exposición PEP 2017

Year 6 - Primary Olivos, September 2017 - What's going on?

Exhibition is cumulative expression of the PYP, it allows PYP students to put into practice the IB learner profile and the five essential elements of the PYP. With this in mind at Olivos Primary we asked Year 6 students to reflected on issues in Latin America that concerned them. Their challenge was to be agents of change, where through their own small actions they could influence others and make a difference. Action is one of the five essential elements of the IB PYP, and our students were able to come up with a number of innovative ways to make a difference. These included: collecting trash from the local riverside; teaching younger students about the dangers of using social media; dodgeball games promoting tolerance towards others; collecting money to print booklets which teach disadvantaged children the importance of good nutrition; collecting school supplies for a local school; collecting supplies for a charity that finds homes for dogs; writing letters to local companies and politicians campaigning for fairer prices and a better social care system.
Students presented their action and the findings of their inquiry in both an individual written report and a presentation to the school community.
